Perspective Shift at Pöppelmann TEKU: When the Back-Office Experiences Horticulture Live
Close contact with our customers is a central part of our work at TEKU – it’s firmly rooted in our principles. While our field sales and sales teams are out in the field every day working in horticulture, our office staff and customer service team typically communicate with our customers by phone or email.
We’ve changed that: We invited our colleagues from the back office and customer service teams to two events designed to offer a change of perspective, and we visited the horticultural business “Schachtschneider Stauden” in the Oldenburg district. The company’s employees gave us direct insights into their workflows and the current challenges they face in their day-to-day operations.
After an engaging discussion about the current state of the industry and challenges specific to the field, the focus shifted primarily to hands-on experience. At three stations, participants were able to pitch in and learn about typical daily tasks at the nursery: cutting and planting young plants, potting by hand, and attaching labels.
During the event, participants gained a new perspective on horticulture, developed a deeper understanding of the importance of personal relationships in the industry, and experienced firsthand how valuable teamwork can be. These insights left a positive impression on everyone involved.
Feedback from colleagues has also been positive: The practical insights and personal exchanges are highly valued, so this will certainly not be the last event of its kind.
