Innovative products of the highest quality. That's what end consumers want these days. This quality mindset runs through all consumer sectors. And of course it also affects commercial horticulture. Different sales and marketing strategies, such as colored or printed pots, additional information on the pots and various presentation techniques in the form of high or low transport trays are available.
The general aim is to attract the attention of shoppers and increase sales. But what exactly is the significance of pots and marketing trays when buying a plant? Are they really relevant for the end consumer and ultimately decisive for the purchase? In short: Is this added value really worth more?
To find out, the independent market research institute „Konkret“ from Bremen was commissioned to conduct a study on this topic. The Ostmann garden center in Wildeshausen was chosen as the location for the study. On three consecutive days, test subjects were interviewed and observed while shopping with the help of a modern eye-tracking camera.
