In-house leakage tests

Safe and budget-conscious: in-house leakage tests (DIN 40050) – for quality inspections as early as during development on your premises.

Pöppelmann uses a protection-class test chamber for in-house leakage tests during development stages. The protection-class test chamber has been specially designed for leakage inspections in line with DIN 40050. The protection classes IP X3 to IP X9K can be requested in this regard.

A turntable picks up the test specimen in the test chamber's enclosure. A swinging arch with a total of 38 water nozzles is used for performing the tests IP X3 and IP X4; it is used in the test enclosure and sprinkles the test specimen under the conditions prescribed in DIN 40050. For the tests IP X5 and IP X6, a jet pipe is located in a laterally fitted spray channel. The jet pipe's outlet opening keeps a distance of 2.5 to 3 metres from the test specimen. Nozzles of 6.3 or 12.5 mm in diameter are used in the pipe in order to achieve the required flow volumes.

  • Immediate result checking and PC-controlled results documentation.
  • Checking of components featuring a variety of geometries.
  • Quality checks throughout the serial production enhance the manufacturing quality.

Lastly, test IP X9K can be performed using a high-pressure lance attached to a swivelling arm in the test chamber. The hot water required for this test is heated up to 80°C in a 100-l-capacity stainless steel container before it strikes the test specimen – 100 mm away – from out of a flat spray nozzle at a pressure of 90 bar. The various test types can be set, monitored and documented through a PC control system.
