Our participation at this year’s edition of the international trade show for plastics processing was another great success. The show opened its doors from 13 to 17 October, and we were delighted to welcome regular customers and partners to our stand, as well as many new contacts who enjoyed a face-to-face chat with representatives from Pöppelmann K-TECH®, Pöppelmann KAPSTO® and Pöppelmann FAMAC®. “Generative and Additive manufacturing techniques” was one of the central themes at Fakuma this year, prompting the Pöppelmann team to provide an impressive demonstration of its skills in rapid tooling.
Pöppelmann provides proof of speed of rapid prototyping.
Pöppelmann has enhanced its expertise in rapid prototyping over recent years to satisfy ever-shorter development cycles in industry. The rapid tooling sector in particular offers enormous potential in terms of speed and use of serial production material. The idea is that a 3D printer is used not to print the component itself but the tool required to make it, and thanks to our tooling expertise, the results are even more effective. Instead of printing a complete tool, it is is possible to use simple master mould inserts and a fully-functional component can be produced in an extremely short time. We therefore decided to give visitors to Fakuma “sporting” proof of just how fast we can react.
The sprays used by football referees to draw a white line on the pitch before a free kick have become a familiar sight since the last World Cup. We are currently producing a holder for the spray manufacturer so that referees can attach the can to their shorts. We created a sample cap for the spray can in just five days, especially for the trade show. The tool was printed in 3D, inserted in a machine and original material was injected into the cap tool. The highlight: the cap was engraved with the result of the Ireland vs Germany game, played just before the trade show, to prove how quickly this could be done.
Another highlight on the Pöppelmann stand was the launch of our new campaign films, which were shown to customers, partners and other interested visitors on the Eyefactive table. The four films gave visitors an exciting insight into our day-to-day work: four Project Managers take viewers on a “virtual” tour of the topics “sealing technology”, “weight-reduction”, “functional integration” and “technical cleanliness”. Each film provides a clear, informative and above all authentic presentation of the different options used by Pöppelmann K-TECH® to develop customised solutions in the specific sectors. “We received very positive feedback from visitors. The films were an ideal basis for discussion, and enabled a simpler, “visual” explanation of our solutions and technologies” reports Reinhard Böckmann, Project Manager at Pöppelmann K-TECH®. The films are now available online.
