Reduce+ bucket by Pöppelmann FAMAC® receives the special “Höfliche Verpackung” gold award.

The Pöppelmann FAMAC® tomato bucket with lattice structure provides optimum protection for delicate foodstuffs and material savings of up to 30 percent. This is why it was awarded by the Meyer-Hentschel Institute.

Great pride in the entire Pöppelmann FAMAC® team: The innovative Reduce+ bucket with lattice structure received the special “Höfliche Verpackung” award by the Meyer-Hentschel Institute. Since 2007, this award has been bestowed on brand owners, packaging developers and packaging designers who think about the environment when developing their packaging.

Dr. Gundolf Meyer-Hentschel, chairman of the jury, praised the innovative product: “Pöppelmann's lattice bucket is not only polite to the product and the environment, but also to the consumer. It offers the consumer a practical solution for the transport and storage of snack tomatoes and is therefore perfectly suited to a product such as snack tomatoes, which the consumer consumes to satisfy the need for everyday healthy nutrition.”

Gerhard Brock from Pöppelmann FAMAC® is very happy: “We are very proud that our tomato bucket now bears the 'Höfliche Verpackung' label. This shows us that we are on the right track in terms of our innovative approaches and implementations. We are setting an example for the responsible use of plastics.”

A cooperation that bears vegetables.

The transparent plastic bucket was developed in cooperation with MERULIN Gartenbauservice GmbH & Co. KG. While MERULIN stood out with extensive knowledge about the industry and exchanged production-related ideas with a customer from the tomato industry, Pöppelmann FAMAC® took over the professional development of the design and brought it to series production using injection moulding.

The result is a bucket with a coloured handle and a capacity of up to 870 ml, which, thanks to its lattice structure, provides optimum ventilation for the tomatoes, and has the necessary stability and machinability despite material savings of up to 30 percent. At just 21 grams, the packaging is much lighter than its full-surface counterparts. This not only reduces logistics costs and recycling duties (DSD in Germany), but also saves CO₂ during transport.

The plastic bucket is available with a lid made from virgin fibre cardboard or optionally from FSC-certified cardboard – i.e. always made from renewable raw materials. The cardboard thus not only replaces existing A-PET solutions and protects the environment, but can also be printed over its entire surface (just like the packaging) using the in-mould labelling process (IML).
